Level Ground is an acoustic gospel and "soft bluegrass" music ministry based in upstate South Carolina. The group is made up of four people from various musical backgrounds who share a desire to spread the word of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through their music. Level Ground is available for any occasion where our music would be appropriate including: churches, family events, benefits, prison ministries, homeless and rehabilitation programs, senior citizen groups, restaurants and Christian coffeehouse environments. A very gifted harmony and lead singer, Level Ground found Jan in a most unusual way. The group had formed with the other three members, Kim, David and Gene, and we were at David's house talking about needing another voice. Jan happened to be there because she also happens to be David's wife. The family laundry was being done and every time Jan walked through the house, the missing harmony voice mysteriously was there! Truly, exactly the right fit vocally and spiritually! She's an amazing singer and even more amazing person. God does provide! Jan and David live the Powdersville, SC area.
One of the most naturally gifted singers you will hear in this area. Her abilities as a singer are only surpassed by her desire to spread the gospel through her music. Kim and Gene sang some together when they were members of the same Sunday School class and discovered their mutual interest in acoustic gospel music We are glad that God has led her in this direction. David has long been a lover of bluegrass and acoustic gospel music. He plays great guitar and does all of the bass work for Level Ground. More importantly, he is a strong spiritual leader in the group and his community. He has worked hard at becoming both a great lead and harmony singer and we depend on him heavily. He has a love and a mission to help others as witnessed by his choosen career as a special education teacher.
Gene is the "musical junkie" of the group, playing regularly with Level Ground and is a member of two other bluegrass groups, Split Rail and Timberline. He also performs solo in restaurants and coffee houses on occasion. He is very privileged to be able to give back some of what God has given to him through the Level Ground ministry. Gene plays guitar and sings both lead and harmony vocals. He and his wife, Susan, live in Greer, SC |
